Research report template for Word

Report a study: the question, the method, the findings and what they mean.

Free: it uses no credits. You get your own copy to edit, in the look you pick here.

Look: Ledger

When to use it

Use it to write up a study so a reader gets the question, method, findings and what follows from them.

How to use it

  1. Make your own copy. It opens in the editor, where you can change the theme and edit anything.
  2. Fill in the fields below, and answer the question each section asks with your own content and numbers.
  3. Download it as an editable Word file, or as a PDF. The file is reopened and checked before it is offered.

Section by section

  1. [study title] [author] · [institution] · [date]
  2. Summary What was asked, what was found, and what should the reader do about it?
  3. The question What did this study set out to answer, and why does it matter?
  4. Method What data was used, how was it collected, and what are its limits?
  5. Findings What is the main finding, and what is the evidence? What did we not expect?
  6. What it means What follows from the findings, and how sure are we?
  7. Next steps What should be studied or done next?

Fields to fill

Fill them once in the editor, or from a spreadsheet to make one copy per client. Where a slide needs content, it asks the question it must answer instead of showing a made-up answer.
