Status report template for Word

A weekly or monthly report: progress, what is at risk, decisions needed.

Free, and not counted as a creation. You get your own copy to edit, in any theme.

When to use it

Use it every week or month during a project, to report progress, flag risks early and ask for decisions.

How to use it

  1. Make your own copy. It opens in the editor, where you can change the theme and edit anything.
  2. Fill in the fields below, and answer the question each section asks with your own content and numbers.
  3. Download it as an editable Word file, or as a PDF. The file is reopened and checked before it is offered.

Section by section

  1. [project] status report [period] · prepared by [lead name]
  2. Summary Overall status: [status]. What happened this period, in two sentences?
  3. Progress against plan A table: Workstream, Planned, Done, Status
  4. Risks and issues What could stop the plan, and what is being done about it? Who owns each risk?
  5. Next period What will be done before the next report on [next date]?
  6. Decisions needed What must be decided, by whom, and by when?

Fields to fill

Fill them once in the editor, or from a spreadsheet to make one copy per client. Where a slide needs content, it asks the question it must answer instead of showing a made-up answer.
