Statement of work template for Word

What will be done, by when, by whom, for what fee, and how it is accepted.

Free, and not counted as a creation. You get your own copy to edit, in any theme.

When to use it

Use it once a client has said yes, to agree exactly what will be delivered, when, for what fee, and how it is signed off.

How to use it

  1. Make your own copy. It opens in the editor, where you can change the theme and edit anything.
  2. Fill in the fields below, and answer the question each section asks with your own content and numbers.
  3. Download it as an editable Word file, or as a PDF. The file is reopened and checked before it is offered.

Section by section

  1. Statement of work: [project] [company] for [client] · [date]
  2. Scope What exactly will be done, and what is explicitly out of scope?
  3. Deliverables A table: Deliverable, Description, Due
  4. Timeline The work runs from [start date] to [end date]. What are the milestones in between?
  5. Fees and payment The fee is [fee]. When is it invoiced, and on what terms?
  6. Acceptance How will [client] confirm each deliverable is complete, and within how many days?
  7. Assumptions and responsibilities What must [client] provide, and when? What are we assuming about access, data and people?
  8. Next steps Sign and return this statement by [sign date] to start on [start date].

Fields to fill

Fill them once in the editor, or from a spreadsheet to make one copy per client. Where a slide needs content, it asks the question it must answer instead of showing a made-up answer.
